I am passionate about composition of choral music, musical theater, dance music, symphonic music (film, concert, tv), and chamber music. The following is my bio until I come up with something quippy to post on here:

Daniel is a native of Saint Cloud, MN where he enjoyed growing up in a rich choral tradition under the tutelage of Robert Sieving. He holds a B.A. in vocal performance from Gustavus Adolphus College where he studied with Shannon Stuckey and Michael Jorgenson, and sang in the Gustavus Choir under the baton of Gregory Aune. He recently achieved an MA in Composition from University of Iowa where he studied with Lawrence Fritts and John Eaton, and sang in the University's Kantorei under Timothy Stalter. His compositions have been performed by choirs and chamber groups across the US as well as Germany and Scotland.
Movement is a key compositional component when Daniel is writing. He has studied Laban Movement Theory for four years and applies its objective observational process to his compositions. As a result, he has had the opportunity to collaborate with numerous choreographers and stage directors. Recent works for the stage include The Boy in Black, a full length musical in collaboration with New York playwright Tony Meneses, and Hidden Sighs, a concert dance piece in collaboration with Philadelphia based choreographer Rain Ross.
Daniel is currently living in Alturas, CA. When not composing, teaching, conducting, accompanying, or working with youth, he can be found training for marathons, completing home improvement projects, and taking care of his beautiful new daughter, Maria.
