Songwriter, Artist - I'm Still Here, Girl Like This, "Float Away”

San Diego singer-songwriter Laura Roppé has released her sophomore album, I'm Still Here, produced by Matthew Embree, the frontman and lead guitarist of indie rock sensation Rx Bandits (whose music is featured on the latest iteration of the popular video game, Guitar Hero). Laura wrote all the songs for the album during and immediately following rigorous chemotherapy and radiation treatments for an aggressive form of breast cancer in 2009. I'm Still Here has received a glowing reception: "George Clooney" recently charted on Myspace; Laura's celebratory music video for the bucket list song has grabbed Top 30 or higher most-watched, "YouTube Honors" in Canada, Australia, Spain, India, Japan, France, Germany, and many others; European and UK radio is regularly airing tracks from I'm Still Here; respected UK music magazine, Maverick Magazine, raves that I'm Still Here is a five-star, "must-have" album (February 2011 issue); and influential music blogger Wildy's World has named I'm Still Here as Number 13 on its list of the Top 60 albums of 2010. On January 29, 2011, Laura debuted at No. 12 on Billboard Magazine's "Uncharted Music" Chart, a listing of the Top 50 emerging artists who have demonstrated significant on-line fan engagement. Back in 2008, Laura left her successful legal career behind and rocketed onto the San Diego music scene with her first album, Girl Like This. The album was nominated for Album of the Year, and her song, "Float Away," won Americana Single the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards in Hollywood, California in 2009. Laura launched a tour of the UK to promote Girl Like This and her music found a home in multiple major BBC radio markets. In April 2011, Laura's memoir about her musical/life adventures was picked up for publication by Seal Press, a division of publishing powerhouse Perseus Books, for release in hard cover in Spring 2012.
